Why we collect your personal data and how we use it
Subscribing to the CAST mailing list
CAST uses Mailchimp (a third-party service) for its mailing list. Please review Mailchimp’s Terms of Use and Privacy Statement.
When registering to CAST’s mailing list, we ask you to provide your full name, email address, job title and organisation (optional). We use this information to send you e-newsletters or emails about upcoming events from CAST and our partners, and to provide you with CAST news such as blog posts and publications.
Every email we send to you includes details on how to update your communications preferences or unsubscribe from future emails.
Booking tickets to CAST events
CAST uses Eventbrite (a third-party service) to manage ticket bookings for events and webinars. Please review Eventbrite’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
When you book tickets on Eventbrite, we ask that you provide your full name and email address for bookings. This information is used to issue the tickets and to contact you with important information relating to your booking, such as confirming your order, reminding you of an upcoming event you have booked for, or letting you know about updates to event details.
The booking form also includes an optional question about accessibility needs. This is to ensure that we can, where possible, meet any requirements you may have in relation to access.
When booking a ticket, we may also ask if you would like to be added to the CAST mailing list. If you choose to be added to our mailing list, we will use the information provided at the time of booking to do this, including your full name and email address, job title and organisation (if provided). You will be given an opportunity to change your communication preferences and unsubscribe from future communications via Mailchimp. If you do not ask to be added to the mailing list, we will not add you to it.
Register your interest or completion of a registration form
CAST use Microsoft Forms to develop events including finding suitable dates, collecting areas of interest for potential participants or attendees, and collecting information required for a potential or confirmed event.
This information may be used to organise and plan the event, ensure a suitable mix of attendees and develop sessions which are audience appropriate. Information may be requested on dietary requirements and accessibility requirements. This is to ensure that we can, where possible, meet any requirements you may have in relation to access.
CAST is a cross-institutional research centre with many collaborators, and we may need to share your information with our research collaborators and partners.
Provide feedback to us
CAST regularly requests feedback from individuals attending the events we hold as well as internal operations, such as our communications or EDI. This may be via a form (Microsoft Forms) or email.
This information is used to help us improve and plan future events. It may also be used for reporting purposes to provide our funders with evidence of impact and stakeholder engagement.
Data retention
We keep your personal data for as long as we need to for the purposes for which it was collected or until you ask use to remove your personal data, in accordance with your rights below. We will assess the personal data that we hold on a regular basis to determine its relevance and destroy your personal data if we no longer require it or no longer provide any services to you.
We will always respect a request by you to stop contact by any or all methods of communication, or for any specific purpose.
