Saffron O’Neill

Prof Saffron O’Neill is a Co-Investigator for CAST’s People Centred Climate Resilience (PCR) project and a Professor in Climate & Society in the Geography department at Exeter University. She is Co-director of C3DS (Centre for Climate Communication and Data Science), and Co-Director of the ACCESS network (Advancing Capacity for Climate and Environment Social Science). Her research explores the social science dimensions of climate variability and change, particularly focusing on communication and public engagement. Her research specialism is the visual communication of climate change. She has held a Leverhulme Research Fellowship (2021-2023) and an ESRC Future Leaders Fellowship (2012-2017). Her book, ‘The Visual Life of Climate Change‘ (Bristol University Press) brings together much of this work (published December 2025).
