CAST Phase 2: What we plan to achieve

CAST Phase 2 kicked off in 2024

Here’s what we’re focusing on in our next five years of funding…

Since the formation of CAST in 2019, the need for fair and rapid social transformation to solve climate change has grown substantially. National and international progress on climate is off-track and major crises – such as the COVID-19 pandemic, cost-of-living crisis and multiple climatic disasters – have caused tremendous suffering and illuminated societal inequalities.

Major social, political and behavioural barriers to tackling climate change still remain. So it’s no surprise that landmark scientific and policy reports are calling for more insights on the role that people play in tackling climate change.

Within our first five years of research, CAST has become a renowned global hub for understanding the actions needed to support more sustainable lifestyles and social structures. In our second phase of research (2024-2029), we’re expanding our work into new areas and focusing on translating our insights into widespread and long-term action.
