Researcher-practitioner working at the intersection of culture, climate, and the live music sector.
Ben Eddie is a doctoral researcher and live events practitioner with over 15 years’ experience across cultural and corporate sectors, including live events delivery and lecturing, and holds an MSc in International Event Management. He is currently undertaking PhD research at the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research, University of Manchester, examining decarbonisation in the live music sector through socio-technical and cultural lenses within sustainability transitions research.
The research focuses on global touring as a carbon-intensive and culturally influential practice, and explores how structural, political-economic, and cultural factors shape how decarbonisation is understood and pursued in the sector. It builds on the Super-Low Carbon Live Music roadmap produced by Tyndall researchers following a commission from Massive Attack, and situates live music within wider debates about cultural influence, responsibility, and climate transitions.
Alongside his academic work, he remains connected to the live events sector through research collaboration and professional engagement, with a particular interest in how cultural sectors shape climate transitions.
