Dr. Chantal Sullivan-Thomsett is a Senior Research Associate in the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia. Following the completion of her PhD on the German Green Party in August 2022, she joined the UEA as a member of CAST. Her current work focuses on exploring German and UK politicians’ understanding of public perceptions of climate change and how it influences their role in enacting climate policy. As well as this work feeding into CAST theme 3.5 ‘government-led change’, it is also contributing to the ERC-funded project Deep Decarbonisation: The Democratic Challenge of Navigating Governance Traps. Her wider research interests include climate policy, qualitative methods, Green parties, environmental activism, the interaction of protest and party politics, and environmental politics.
