Dr Chris Pollard is a Senior Researcher leading the research team at Climate Outreach and Co-lead for Theme 4.
Research at Climate Outreach forms the backbone of their approach to developing communication and engagement guidance. The Climate Outreach approach centres on understanding values and identity to develop narratives which will appeal to an audience more than using other characteristics such as demographics.
Chris has wide-ranging experience as a scientist, publishing in natural and social science journals from research roles in both private and public sectors as well as academia and NGOs.
Having begun his career in the pharma sector, Chris switched focus to study for an interdisciplinary MSc in Conservation Science. Since then, he has helped seafood retailers collaborate for sustainability, studied the conflict arising when wild geese damage crops across the islands of Scotland, led research on the social dimensions of plant health and biosecurity and now, looks at what makes an authentic and compelling climate story.
