Jesse Wise

Jesse Wise is a Doctoral Researcher specializing in sustainable mobility and organisational behaviour change in the Department of Psychology, University of Bath. Supervised by Professor Lorraine Whitmarsh and Dr Sam Hampton, her research explores how small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can become pivotal agents in the shift toward low-carbon transportation. By examining the adoption of Travel Demand Management (TDM) strategies and workplace travel plans, her work highlights the role SMEs play in reducing transport emissions—a significant contributor to the UK’s carbon footprint.

Jesse’s research is distinguished by a comprehensive approach that combines behaviour change theory, choice environments, policy application, and the study of social tipping points to influence collective mobility habits. This includes designing and evaluating behaviour change interventions, using the PATH approach and mixed methods. Jesse’s recent placement with Pledgeball, where they assessed the impact of behavioural interventions aimed at football clubs and their fans, has further honed her expertise in evaluating real-world climate action initiatives.

Beyond academia, Jesse actively engages with a range of stakeholders, aiming to translate research findings into actionable strategies that empower organizations and support policymakers in crafting impactful and effective pro-environmental interventions.
