Harry Barton

Harry Barton is a Research Associate in the Centre for Joined-Up Sustainability Transformations in the Greater Manchester place-based action research team. Her current research focuses on working closely with organisations and communities across Greater Manchester to engage and observe place-based climate action in process and help to join-up groups and projects that could benefit each other on our journey to an equitable low-carbon society.

Harry’s PhD at the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research explored barriers and facilitators to inter-city knowledge transfer for climate action. Part funded by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority and the School of Engineering, this work highlighted how cities can learn more effectively from others to help them accelerate their own climate action and reach environmental goals. As part of this PhD, Harry worked in CAST theme 2 (learning) and theme 3 (trialling), contributing to a report with Dr Tim Braunholtz-Speight and Professor Carly McLachlan entitled “International Round Table – Accelerating Climate Mitigation at City Level”.
